This is our most popular class at Paradiso! Great for someone looking to build up their portfolio, gain new skills or re-visit the basic principles of life drawing.

Foundation Figure Drawing starts an 8 week journey into the art of learning to draw the human form by looking at the basic shapes of the bones. This approach is sometimes referred to as "learning from the bones up".

Students will then soon to see the body in terms of large simplified masses that are interconnected.

Eventually, the class moves into strategies for rendering a convincing and volumetric depiction of the body in various poses by working directly with the live model.

Each class begins with a one hour lecture in which large diagrams are drawn in front of the students. The lecture will focus on the theme of the day, for example week three might be about portrait drawing techniques so the corresponding lecture will help students understand the skull and proportions of the face.

Foundation Figure Drawing will give students a global comprehension of many details of the body and teach them easy to learn techniques for incorporating these into working directly from the live model.

All levels welcome.
