All classes will meet at the Downtown Seattle Art Museum!

Unleash your creativity and sharpen your skills with SAM's figure drawing classes!

Dive into an inspiring series led by the talented Wyatt Landis, featuring the dynamic model, Kirsten McCory. Not only will you have an opportunity to refine your technique, but you'll also delve into the masterpieces on display at SAM. Each session brings a new theme, sparked by a specific artist or artwork, where you'll explore lighting, poses, and foundational techniques.

Imagine drawing from a costumed model, each month offering a fresh artistic focus with unique materials, inventive costumes, and captivating poses. This is more than a class; it's an artistic adventure open to all, from beginners to seasoned artists.

This series is a partnership with Studio Paradiso, a vibrant art school that's been nurturing creativity since 2014. Don't miss this chance to elevate your art in a truly inspiring environment. Sign up now and embark on this creative journey!

This class will begin with an in-depth overview of the foundation techniques of basic figure drawing and progress towards helping students finish more “complete” drawings. Students will be introduced to strategies for laying the groundwork for a more developed figure drawing through anatomy, proportion and structure. Working directly from a live model, in costume, each class students will use charcoal on paper.

This drawing process emphasizes strong light/dark relationships, basic shapes and overall composition. Students will move the drawing from simple shapes to more and more complex details in a gradual progression towards a true likeness of the model. Lectures and demos will support the goals of the class.
